iPhone is go, and tech enthusiasts are already ripping their new units apart to see exactly what's inside.

If you haven't heard yet, the iPhone was officially launched in the US at 8am this morning. It's taken a good few hours for the word to spread but the overall consensus is positive. Word is that many stores are already out of stock. The online Apple store is already showing a delivery estimate of between 2-3 weeks.
I've put my order in via a contact in the US and now I'm praying that someone finds a way to allow me to use another carrier's SIM card in it, because I really don't want to have to pay AT&T roaming rates just to be able to fiddle with the functions of the phone.
Ripped to pieces
You knew it would happen... some extremely hardcore tech enthusiasts would sacrifice their warranty and possibly their phone itself, simply for the greater good of the tech community.
Yes, that's right, the iPhone has already been torn to pieces by numerous people.
iFixit has the best tear-apart -- they found a way to separate the two layers of the motherboard "without completely destroying it like ThinkSecret did".
Texyt.com also has a detailed analysis of "who really makes the iPhone", examining the many Taiwanese manufacturers that rallied together to contribute parts.
First Impression Count
First impressions are available everywhere but Engadget and Gizmodo have great coverage.
Sound Quality
Some reviews flagged sound quality as a potential issue with iPhone, however wirelessinfo.com reviewed iPhone and were very impressed. In fact, it got the best marks ever.
iPhone launch for Europe
Now that the US launch is out of the way we can start thinking about Europe. Newswireless.net has a report that a new 3G enabled version of iPhone will be released this Monday in conjunction with Vodafone, T-Mobile and Carphone Warehouse. My take - I'll believe it when I see it.
This should be an exciting week as the iPhone is finally in the hands of users. Expect lots more news and information in the coming week as the public begin to dissect and analyse it.
