Subtle changes to Google Reader Mobile add up to big improvements
I've been using Google Reader on both my laptop and my iPhone for a while now. The beauty of using a web app like Google Reader is that your RSS feeds are constantly in-sync, whether you are using your browser or your mobile. Marking an article as read on the phone means you don't see it on the computer, and vice-versa.
The biggest frustration I've had with the mobile version of
Google Reader is the limited number of items it renders per page. Today, though, I noticed a new 'settings' link at the bottom of the page. Google has finally given us a way to increase the number of items per page. The limit has now been doubled to 20 (I'd still like more).
Google has also introduced a new check-box that lets you choose between the mobile formatted version and the 'real' HTML version when you follow a link from an article. Again, I prefer the original version because Mobile Safari renders pages so well.
Lastly, you know Google is getting serious about mobile devices when they add a 'More Google Products' link on the bottom of each page. Clicking this takes you to www.google.com/m/products which is a great content page for all the custom mobile sites Google has released.
