Dell’s Inspiron Mini 10 netbook has just sprouted a few extra options. It's a shame they’re just not the ones we really wanted to see...
When Dell launched its mid-range
Inspiron Mini 10 earlier this year it told us it’d eventually raise the base build ante with several appealing options such as a six-cell battery, HD (1366x768) screen, internal TV tuner and customisable casework in a range of colours and patterns.
It looks like we can now tick off half of that list, although as far as most APC readers would be concerned it’s the wrong half.
The Mini 10 is currently running at a this-week-only $749 special with the inbuilt TV card making its debut. No, not the
USB TV tuner module of which we wrote yesterday, a fully integrated Digital TV tuner card. We’re presuming the TV card will land on the tick-a-box options list for the Mini 10 after this special ends.
Also now on the menu are colours and patterns beyond the stock black offering. Red, green, pink, white and blue are all zero-cost options, while a series of eye candy patterns from New York-based designer and ‘urban artist’ Tristan Eaton – the ‘urban artist’ behind the Kidibot and Dunny ‘devil bunny’ vinyl toys – cost $145 each.
These include The Muse, inspired by the work of Viennese artist Gustav Klimt, and a mashup of street-style stickers.
That’s all well and good for hip young things, but we’re sure most APC readers would rather be able to spend $145 on a six-cell battery or HD screen (and still have some change left over, please).
