Game sound very quiet

My sound works fine in WMP, youtube, skype, teamspeak, ventrilo etc, but is so quiet in games such as World of Warcraft, Skyrim and Diablo that I can barely hear it even with volume in both game and system turned up to 100%. I can't find any way of making the games louder. Dxdiag says everything is ok.
Any ideas?
