I have a Fujitsu T4220 which runs pretty well aside from the DVD player locking itself to a region from which I only have 1 dvd from
I have a pretty extensive DVD collection from various parts of the world and like to watch movies on the train etc. Does anyone know how I can unlock the region for my DVD player?

Well, the first thing you need to do is find out exactly what model of DVD drive you have in that notebook. You can do that by foraging round in the windows hardware manager (control panel > system > hardware > device manager > cd/dvd drives). Post the model number back here and we can research further whether a region crack is available.

Looks like there might be a solution here...
The MCSE utility they are referring to is here:

I've been running AnyDVD for years, and it avoids this problem nicely.

here's the solution of your problem.
Get DVD Region+CSS Free enables you to watch and copy any region code CSS-encrypted DVD movies on any DVD drive! It fully supports region-protected (RPC2) DVD drives, and does not require any firmware modifications. It will work, even if you can not change the DVD drive's region anymore.

Get vlc. Best media player their is when it comes to playing EVERYTHING. This player can play nearly every format you can imagine. It takes no notice of DVD region locking.

I agree with JB747 - AnyDVD is an absolute must for region-free DVD playback.

I think you should avoid all these pricey (or time consuming) methods and just get VLC Media Player (which may have a couple issues with some UK discs), or AVS DVD Player (no problems I've seen whatsoever).
