Apple adds matte screen option for 15-inch MacBook Pro

Apple offers MacBook Pro fans the matte screen option that many think should have never been taken away.

MacBook fans have long lamented the loss of the matte screen option on their beloved Mac notebooks since Apple took the choice away. Let's face it, glossy screens on a notebook that rarely gets used for media playback is annoying. If we want to see who is sneaking up behind us in the office we can get a mirror, am I right?

Good news to glossy screen haters like me, Apple is set to bring the matte screen option back to the 15-inch MacBook Pro line for an extra $70 when you are ordering. This marks the first time in about a year that Mac-heads have been able to get the matte screen option.

It’s nice to see that Apple can realize the error in pulling a popular option and bring it back. Now if they can just get the price of a Mac machine down closer to the range of similar Windows-based machines I might actually give a MacBook a go.

About time. How hard was it for them anyway?

Um, they added this option back at the beginning of August. I'm looking at my matte 15" UniBody MBP right now.

Pretty much how most people see it. OK, they are nicer on the outside than most lower cost Windows boxes, but not double the price nicer.

Depends on the brand and the level of spec. What you're saying is correct about the lower priced notebooks, but midrange business spec models (eg Lenovo Thinkpad) work out to cost roughly the same as a Macbook Pro - if not a little more.

Extra 70 bucks? Pffft. I agree though, the glare on my 13" MBP is terrible when Im using it outdoors at school.

it's funny that they need to add extra price to those people who wanted their macs to have matte screen..

I never understood the complaint, myself.
I prefer the matt screens on my desktop and laptop.
