The iPad finally arrives in Australia on Friday May 28 with pre-orders from this coming Monday; Wi-Fi models will start at $629 and 3G at $799.
Apple has named the date and set the price for the Australian release of the iPad.
The date is Friday May 28th – when the iPad will also launch in Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland and the UK. Pre-orders can be placed at
Apple.com.au from Monday, 10 May, with the device available from Apple’s online store and retail stores plus selected Apple resellers.
Pricing starts at $629 for the 16GB Wi-Fi model, with the 32GB version at $759 and the 64GB model at $879.
The entry-level 3G iPad (which also includes GPS and 16GB of storage) will land at $799; the 32GB model comes in at $929, with the flagship 64GB 3G iPad at $1,049.
And if you’ll permit us just the teeniest bit of gloating: these figures line up almost perfectly with the
estimates we made back on January 28th when Apple unveiled the iPad.
We were out by a mere $20 on all models bar the 32GB 3G iPad, which we predicted at $1,099 and Apple landed at $1,049. It’s also nice to see that in every instance Apple has actually come in below our estimates rather than on the high side.
