Apple set to issue new fix for 27-inch iMac screen flicker

Second fix for iMac screen woes set to hit in three weeks.

You might recall a few days back when I wrote about the three week shipping delay on the large 27-inch iMac computer. At the time, I wondered why the long delay and speculated perhaps it was to wait for new hardware. It seems that the reason for the delay may be to allow Apple time to apply a new fix for the screen flicker issue many owners are having.

Apple has already released one patch for the screen flicker issue that was unable to remedy the problem for many users. AppleInsider reports that users are now saying that AppleCare technicians have been telling those who call with the screen flicker issue that a second fix is incoming. The time frame for the fix is said to be three weeks.

That time frame matches exactly with the shipping delay from the Apple Store. Reports also claim that AppleCare techs have been instructed to get contact information for those who call in about the flickering issue so the customers can be contacted when the fix releases. However, an Apple rep told AppleInsider that the delay had nothing to do with hardware issues or fixes and that Apple simply couldn’t keep up with demand for the computer.

I spoke with apple support after emailing sjobs@apple.com about this flicker being on over 200 of Imacs that I sold and they basically said go away! That patch was a joke by the way. I am currently awaiting the release of the new Mac pro i9
