Apple to open Bondi store on iPad day

Apple will be holding a public grand opening of an Apple Retail Store on Oxford Street, Bondi Junction this Friday, 28 May — the day its flagship iPad tablet goes on sale.

The store, which has been under heavy guard during its construction, is rumored to be an “atrium-designed” store.

The store is thought to be a vast vista of trees, greenery and Apple Geniuses wandering around like angels under an expansive glass rooftop — a tropical Apple paradise in the heart of Bondi Junction.

The Next Web was given a sneak peak of what was under the black construction veil and spied shadows of trees — trees they were apparently told were 5-6 metres tall. The new store is touted by Apple to be the best place to learn about the “magical new iPad” that also launches on the same day as the grand opening.

It is unclear whether the iPad will be readily available in store to purchase due to the great demand in Australia, with the pre-order next shipments to be on the 7th June.

Also available to fondle and buy are the usual Mac products like the improved MacBook Pro and MacBook that have new NVIDIA graphics processor; iPhone 3GS and the iPod Touch.

People who buy a Mac at the Apple store get personalised set up and file transfer from their old computer, Personal Training (Mac) sessions and Personal Project support for $129 including GST. The Grand and opening of the Bondi store is this Friday, 28 May at 8:00am AEST.

Well the (non-Apple) computer shop I work for would try very hard to get that sort of thing done - but somehow I doubt Apple Stores would extend to pre-WinXP or pre-OSX computers.

If it wasn't for the fact I hate how their laptops don't have buttons (I hate the os as well, but that's easy enough to fix - download linux, install, done =D) and that it's on the other side of the country, I'd be tempted to try, just to see what they'd do (even though I could easily do it myself) XD

I thought the same thing - I'd try it too if I wasn't around 650km away. The money would be well spent I think :P
