Apple upgrades iPhone, Leopard already a best seller

iPhone to get 8 hour battery life, new glass scratch resistant screen. Meanwhile, OS X 10.5 Leopard is already out-selling Vista by a long margin!
It seems that the recent Apple announcement regarding 3rd party iPhone development wasn't such a flop after all. Only a week after WWDC a slew of new websites are already pimping iPhone-ready Web 2.0 apps. As a Mac fan, it's amazing to see the depth of applications already available for a product that won't ship for another ten days.
I wasn't old enough to remember, but I'm pretty sure the release of WinCE and the subsequent updates didn't have anywhere near the developer enthusiasm or support that the unborn iPhone has. I think it's a great sign for the success of the iPhone, and the untapped demand for 'smarter' smart phones.
Upgraded iPhone Specs
Apple has also just upped the specs for the iPhone. According to this press release it now features up to 8 hours of talk time and 250 hours of standby time. Apple also announced that the entire top surface of iPhone (display included) has been upgraded from plastic to optical-quality glass to achieve a superior level of scratch resistance and optical clarity. Hopefully this will save a repeat performance of the scratched Nano debacle.
In any case the iPhone is one of the most hyped products to be launched in recent times. Look out for lots of media coverage in the lead up to its 6pm launch on the 29th.
And after the launch look out for a swell of anti-Apple sentiment with people complaining about everything from the non-replaceable battery to the lack of physical keyboard.
Regardless of the success of the iPhone you've got to hand it to Apple for keeping a clear, consistent message since the iPhone launch at Macworld in January.
Leopard pre-sales doing well
Lastly, the negative press surrounding Leopard at WWDC hasn't done much to curb consumers enthusiasm for the yet-to-be-released OS.
According to Amazon.com's top software sellers, Leopard is currently sitting in second position while the Leopard family pack is at number 10. Compare this to Windows XP at position 18 and Vista which is in position 98! Is anyone actually using Vista yet?
