Our sister site, Notebook Hunter, has done some testing on real-life USB 3 speeds, with surprising results.

Notebooks are starting to hit the market with USB 3.0 integrated, but as APC's Lab Editor Nick Race points out, they're all using special USB 3.0 controller chips that aren't part of a basic motherboard chipset -- and as a result, you'll be paying a price premium for your notebook.

Nick decided to do some speed testing on USB 3.0 -- which is marketed as offering 10x speed boost over USB 2 -- and got some surprising results, casting light on whether you should bother looking for USB 3 in your next notebook.

You can see the full results of the testing and his explanation over at Notebook Hunter.
