Is it a netbook or a sluggish notebook?

Benq's netbook is really bamboozling for numerous reasons...

If you thought a 12-inch netbook was too large to really be considered a netbook, you will really find the new BenQ Joybook Lite T131 perplexing. The machine is billed as a netbook, but has a 13.3-inch LCD and weighs 1.8KG.

Other oddities for a netbook are AMD power with the machine using the AMD Yukon mobile platform. BenQ says that the machine is optimized for multimedia, email, IM and surfing the web. The screen is an enhanced UltraVivid unit for better image quality.

Dimensions of the T131 are 320mm W x 240mm D x 28mm H. The screen lacks the LED backlighting we typically find on a netbook and uses older CCFL backlighting, which will hurt battery life. The screen offers 250-nit brightness and has an anti-glare coating.

Other features include a 320GB HDD, 1.3-megapixel webcam with mic, and dual built-in speakers. The machine comes in snowy white or midnight blue colors and will launch in June for Chinese buyers. There is no word on price or availability in other parts of the world.

Perhaps "netbook" is the preferred nomenclature for "underpowered notebook" these days...?
