Check out the latest and greatest in apps for your Windows Phone with our monthly app roundup.

Clearer

Gesture-based task management.

Tasks: we all do ‘em. However, I find that I’m better at doing them when I use a task manager. Clearer is one of many such task managers available on WP7, only it has a great gesture-based interface and syncs with Google Tasks.

The main interface is based around your task lists (called categories). Each list or task can be assigned a colour of your choice, so you can easily discern those important tasks. Or you can forego the colour altogether and just have a pretty image as your background.

The stand-out feature of the app is the gesture-based interaction. You pull down to create a new task or list (or pinch out to create one between two others), pinch in to move back a screen, swipe left to mark a task as complete, or right to delete it, and tap and hold to move an item. It sounds complex on paper, but in execution, the gestures are quite intuitive.

The app also includes live tile support. The live tile displays the total number of incomplete tasks on one side, and flips to show you the number of incomplete tasks in each list.

Pick it up Trivia

It’s trivia time! Battle it out head-to-head against players from across the globe or digital (irredeemable) dollars!

Each round consists of 10 questions, with 15 seconds to answer each. The faster you answer a question, the more points you win if you get it right.

The questions are, perhaps expectedly, biased toward American culture, but there are enough in there that it doesn’t pose too much of a problem. Like the name suggests, it’s a great game to just pick up and play.

RateYourBeer

Mmmm Beer… I think Homer put it best when trying to sum up mankind’s addiction to the amber liquid. Not that I’m amber-ist; I love all the colours in the beer rainbow - from black to blonde. But with so many beer variations on offer, it can be hard to choose a brand.

RateYourBeer is a crowd-sourced beer catalogue. It’s only recently arrived on Australian shores, so the selection will grow, but that’s where you come in. It’s time to start rating and contributing to this (most important) volume.

Reinstaller

If you recently upgraded your WP7 phone (perhaps to a Lumia? You lucky devil, you!), you were probably amazed at how painful it was to reinstall your old apps – something like a fillion clicks for every app! Reinstaller offers a better way.

Reinstaller Windows Phone App

You simply log into your windowsphone.com account, and the app scans through the list of apps you’ve previously installed. You can then mark which apps you want to reinstall, and the app will open up the Marketplace app and install them one-by-one. Lifesaver.
