Cockroaches in my PC!
Help, my fan is making funny noises, came the distress call to a Sydney IT department recently. You bet lady - that's because not only is your notebook a word processor, but it's also a temperature controlled insect colony.

You can see the little critters pictured here - a family (now dead) of cockroaches, complete with eggs. One of the bugs - let's call him Frank - had crawled into the fan itself, and curled up for a bit of shuteye. Or maybe he was using it as a workout treadmill.
We'd like to jump on the cockroach hating bandwagon, believe us. There's nothing that creeps us out more than wondering whether that rustling noise means it's time to reach for a new IDE drive, or the nearest can of flyspray.
But you can't blame the little suckers. With notebook form factors getting ever tighter, thermal issues can only mean one thing for bugs - a shower and a bed for the night. (Though we wonder whether dual core will throw a spanner in the works).
The only thing that surprises us is that they didn't pick a Macbook.
