New Vostro 3000 notebook series offers lots of options and performance for the professional.

Dell announced a new line of Vostro notebooks yesterday for business users called the 3000 series. I don’t expect any of the machines to be as sexy as the Vostro V13, but they may be more practical for some users. The new line will include a range of machines that will offer multiple screen sizes.

Dell specifically mentions three 3000 series notebooks including the Vostro 3700 packing in a powerful Intel Core i7 processor. The Vostro 3300 is a 13-inch notebook claiming to be the thinnest in the industry that still offers an optical drive. A 14-inch Vostro 3400 is designed for battery life with a claimed eight hours of run time with an optional 9-cell battery.

The 3000 series will have lots of options including HD screens, NVIDIA discrete graphics cards, and more. The line will feature integrated webcams and microphones for video conferencing, WiFi, and optional wireless modems and Bluetooth. Up to 6GB of DDR3 RAM is supported and optional fingerprint readers for security are available. The machines will be available around the world by mid-March.

I've had a great run with Vostro machines as good all rounders. The 3500 is a bit of a disappointment screen wise in comparison to the Vostro 1520 it will likely succeed. Slightly larger screen with slightly lower resolution, is not really a step forward.

Lenovo did the same with their SLx10 Series, I believe. It's stupid that they do that.

Looks nice, on the other hand... matches my hair :P
