Dell Vostro V13 offers Adamo sexy at a much lower price

Want a Dell Adamo, but can't pay the massive asking price? Dell Vostro V13 to the rescue!

Dell already has a very thin and sexy looking ultraportable on the market for the consumer called the Adamo XPS. The downside of the thin Adamo notebook is the thick price tag at $2,499. That price meant a lot of us were left to wish we had the sexy machine rather than actually owning one.

Dell has unveiled a new ultra-thin notebook that has virtually identical dimensions as the Adamo and weighs in at a bit over 1.5kg called the Vostro V13. The best news is the price, the machine tipped up in America for $US450, which would work out to $495 in Australia. Naturally, that price will be inflated more than the straight conversion rate once the new Dell Vostro V13 lands here.

Dell is mum on the full specifications list, but we do know most of the details. The V13 has a 13.3-inch screen and runs an Intel Core 2 ULV processor. It will sport 4GB of RAM, Bluetooth, 802.11g/n and a built-in mic and webcam. Dell is mum on storage capacity but given the price, it will be modest and 160 to 320GB is a good guess. We can also assume that the machine will run Windows 7. It is worth noting that the price for the Vostro V13 in New Zealand is pegged to convert to $US850. I hope that Dell doesn't pull any of that tricky pricing stuff here.

The Vostro V13 is on the Dell Australia website and has had pricing up since last night. $999 for single core ULV processor and 2GB RAM or $1099 to get it with an SU7300.
Might be worth ordering from the USA with that shocking price difference!!!

Pity that involves using a package relying service and could mean interesting warranty problems.

One could argue that Dell Australia is somehow justified in higher pricing than Dell USA...

Nahhh.... Just ripoff.
