Highly recommended entry to the front ranks by this venerable supplier.

FSP is one of those manufacturers that has been steadily churning out everyone else’s products for a long time. Like many before it, FSP has decided to take it’s own crack at retail, establishing itself as a recognisable brand in the PSU market.

This PSU is a second run at the crease, with a range of PSUs already launching earlier this year. This model is a 750W unit with an 80+ Gold certification, which is impressive to say the least. The 80+ Gold cert means the unit is capable of up to 92% efficiency at 50% load, meaning less energy wasted to heat (and lower power bills).

It’s a modular PSU, with four 12v rails split over a number of SATA and model modular cables and the requisite PCI-E and EPS connectors. The physical design shows some excellent airflow routing, with loads of space for air to move through the unit, but the flat molex connectors for the cables are a little more wobbly than we’d like.

Available from FSP, retailing for $175.
APC rating: 8/10 (Highly Recommended)

The photo looks a little like they're trying to make it look impressive, which to me isn't a good sign in a power supply.

That said, I come across FSP power supplies quite a lot in "brand name" computers, and compared to some of the other OEM vendors, FSP power supplies do seem to actually last a long time.

from my point of view, i can't say for sure if that's going to be a quite PSU or not. the punch out for the back of the supply has lots of sharp edges and restrictive holes... that usually = a whistle
