Flash memory storage and inbuilt USB connector made Flip the plug-and-play camcorder – now a tilting 3 inch touchscreen turns the Flip SlideHD into ‘shoot and show’.

Flip has a new spin on consumer video cameras – or perhaps we should say, a new slide.

The SlideHD, which launched stateside overnight for US$279, sprouts a tilting 3 inch touchscreen.

Flash memory is beefed up to 16GB, which can hold up to four hours of 720p HD footage.

Cisco is touting the device as ideal for ‘show and share’ situations where you want instant playback of videos, as well as Flip’s familiar uploading to your PC or Mac and thence to online video services such as YouTube.

Clips can also be played on any TV by plugging an optional HDMI cable into the SlideHD’s HDMI Mini (Type C) port.

As with the original Flip, a flip-out USB plug provides hassle-free docking with your PC or Mac while also recharging the SlideHD's battery.

The SlideHD is available only in the US at the moment, with no word on a possibly Aussie release date.
