I've made several posts on News articles in the past week and only one small one got through.
Have I been a bad "Advanced member"?

I know of plenty that should be banned but you're not one of them ;-)
Try posting from a different IP address. There may be a prob with your current IP address in APC's filter.

All the recalcitrant members are still posting so it's not your character that is in question ;-)
Try dropping Dan a line and see if your IP address has been blocked.

mostly from 1st hand experience.

If IP was the problem how is it that Aubreys post got through here? Would be a pretty bizzare IP filter to be placed after the thread reply notifications. But then this is some pretty bizzare forum code.
I made comment elsewhere about the missing posts mostly because I saw e-mail notification of the posts which somehow never made the news threads. Whatever the problem we can be pretty sure it's all at the APC end.
There are lots of posts from that hit the notifications but never make the thread, (mostly from abusive 1 post wonders who slink back to where they came from and are never seen again) so you have to ask why they make the emails? But who knows on this forum.

In general Australian IP addresses don't get banned on the site. I do ban IP addresses from persistent spammers outside Austraia. We do use keyword filtering to hold posts in moderation that might be offensive, attacking, defamatory, etc, which is why some posts don't appear immediately.
I just cleared the moderation list -- do you want to check now if your comments are published?
P.S. to the various people that bait each other on a personal level -- it's really pointless; it just mean your comments end up in manual moderation, or reported as offensive for manual moderation. Just give it up and argue the topic, not the man!

I've been experiencing the same problem this week - 2 posts which didn't appear. Dan, any pointers on what I might be doing incorrectly?

It is unlikely you are doing anything incorrectly.
On observation these problem usually appear around the hour and at times of high load. If the site is slow it may be worth waiting a short while before attempting to post.
Dan. I don't know the architecture of the site, but from observation it looks like a problem is occurring during replication and/or synchronisation. The odd thing is that notification e-mails appear to go through despite the lost posts never making it to the threads.
