Hi there "100121" :) Try going to this site Dasound They seem to have heaps of converters for what you want. I use something called Format Factory myself but that's mainly to convert flash videos to Windows Media Player files :) Anyway have a look on this site and you may find something there :)

Hiya John :) Don't really know how far you'll get with only $600 :) but here's a site that may give you a few ideas on what you can buy www.techarp.com They give you all kinds of reviews on different stuff and also how much it costs. Mind you I think the prices are in $US dollars Just click on the section "Article Database" and go from there. Another good site is www.techaday.com.au which gives you hardware and stuff like that for special prices but only for 24 hours :) I've got some good stuff from them and it 's good to keep an eye on them if you need something special in case it comes up :) Good luck with your project John :) I hope everything goes well for you.

Here is a torrent link:
http://www.torrentreactor.net/torrents/1572946/Intelliscore-mp3%2Fwav%2Fwma-converter-software
I haven't installed & tested the program (intelliscore) yet, but I've heard many good things about it & the torrent downloaded smoothly.
I also checked out Big Baboo's suggested site. Intelliscore is on there too -- not free though. But thanx, Big Baboo, great page to discover!
Good luck, 1000121

Hi "odettedf" :) Glad to see that you enjoyed that page :) You may have noticed that there's a link up at the top which will take you to any freeware that's available for all the various software on the page :) Hope you enjoy going through it all :)

hi there,
i may not know what im talking about but, Im pretty sure it would be impossible to make an mp3 into a MIDI file as a MIDI file is the original format of the mp3, cd, tape and contains all the individual instruments/voices as separate tracks. When they are recorded onto a cd/tape these are mixed together into 1 track, therefore rendering them inseparable without removing some other part that you dont want to remove.
a good example of this problem is to listen to a couple of kareoke songs where they have removed the voice so you can sing it, as you will notice a lot of the music quality is missing as the voice component occupies (for example) the 80khz range but this is also the range of some of the instruments being used so removing voice removes these instruments.
p.s the best kareoke songs are the newer ones where they still have the original MIDI/multiple track tapes of the songs
