In our office network which has a Windows Server 2008 as our main server which acts as the file server and domain controller plus the active directory.

And the client computers run Vista SP1. The network is running on cat5e cables and has a gigabit network. All the computers plus the server has a gigabit NIC and the switch that runs the network also is a gigabit switch (linksys SRW2024P).

The client computers are quad core machines as well as the server.

The network speed is very slow when it comes to accessing the server. And if I transfer the files to the server it is slow and when I transfer a file to the client from the server the speed is better about 3 times faster but still too slow.

And also when i transfer from a client to a client the speed is faster than the other way.

Any help to solve this problem is much appreciated.

Thanks

Niro

I've heard that vista has very slow copying accross networks. I'm not sure how to fix it.

Yes that is a big issue in Vista. But there is a fix for it. But the problem is not Vista it is Windows 2008. I have search on the net for a solution but can't seem to find a proper solution for it.

If you want to increase the speed on Vista go to the following website. The info they have is really good and it works as well.
