Asus have really let me down. I was very happy with my G1S laptop (except it was quite noisy and got very hot) but now that I need support on it for a hardware fault...Asus are nowhere to be found.

I purchased my laptop just over 2 years ago with a warranty extension to make it 3 years. I scratched off the panel on the credit card-type warranty extension card and registered on the website as they said you must.

About a month ago, the laptop just stopped powering on. I tried searching on the site for my membership details filled out a couple of yeras ago and I couldn't find them (changed address, email etc nothing unusual) so I filled out a new membership just so I could log a fault online.

The Australian office contacted me and they diverted me to Taiwan office, I thought that was kind of odd. Since then, the only way I've been able to speak with anyone is via email except for a phone call last week where Asus said they will not support me.

Asus claim that they have no record of me or my warranty extension purchase and that they will not honor my warranty claim. I have a receipt for the laptop and the warranty extension, I have the original card they sent me with the lapop and they will still not fix my computer.

As usual, the consumer pays while the big companies just walk all over us. I can tell you that I will never make another Asus purchase and as the director of a PC sales and support company you can bet none of my clients will ever get an Asus recommendation. Their loss I guess, it will cost them a lot more in loss of sale than it would have to fix my laptop.

Any suggestions how I can further this? I have spoken with the Department of Fair Trading and they said I can go to a tribunal, but I really don't want to do that.

You could always host a website, put facsimiles of your information online, complete with evidence of ASUS's complete lack of support. Keep it completely factual.

Perhaps find the most high-hitting forums on the internet with the most active commnuities and post - you might find that other people are having the same problem and were able to find a solution.
