Western Digital Caviar Green Power (1TB ) 1000GB/7200RPM/ SATAII $105.00

Pioneer DVR-118LBK (OEM) DVD-DL Drive - IDE, 22x DVD±R, 12x DVD±R DL - Black, with Software $42.00

Noctua NH-U12P-SE2 All-In-One CPU Cooler $99.00

TOTAL $2341.09
all from Austin computers in WA www.austin.net.au

My main thing is im not sure either to get 2 5770's or get 1 5870. Which setup would give the best performance considering price aswell. I dont really want to go over $2500.00

Thanks for any help.

1 5870 has similar performance to 2 5770's.
2 5770's are cheaper than a 5870.
However, some games don't like crossfire, and 2 5770's may end up being hotter and louder than a single 5870.

I doubt you'd regret 2 5770's, but I suspect you'll have less problems with a 5870.
A 5870 will push your budget though.

while this is true now it might not be in the future as Xfire and SLI become more mainstream

Well i just picked up my new comp and cant wait to plug her in and start the installation process of games and apps(the bit i hate)

I ended up with
Asus P6T se MotherBoard
Intel Core i7 920 Processor
Kingston 6gb DDR3
Kingston 64gb SSD HDD
Seagate 1tb HDD
Sapphire 1gb 5850
Pioneer DVR218 burner
ANTEC True Power 750w PSU
ANTEC 902 Case
Samsung 2494HS LCD Monitor
Windows 7 64bit

Total price $2396.00
I ended up with the 5850 as the 5870 was an extra $150 and then i would of went over my Budget. I also chopped and changed a cpl of things and squeezed in the SSD so im hoping there worth the money like ppl had told me. Anyway i hope it goes good lol
Thanks for all your help much appreciated

Let us know how it goes.
Should be fast with the OS on the SSD.

I would be interested in how noisy the 5850 is.

Yeah it loads up in like 5 seconds maybe 10 but super quick lol Everything runs smooth and games on the 24" screen sure beats my ols 19"
Noise wise is a little noisy but not annoying and mainly is the case with its 4 big fans but they r all able to be manually turned down. The 5850 i cant really tell if it is loud doesnt seem to be but for the noise anyway im fine with as i have my headphones on most times anyway.

Not a bad build brother. I would have gone for the Armor+mx over the 900 II. Thats not to say theres anything wrong with the 900 II, it's just I love the look of the Armor+'s more. Congrats.

As long as you're in Western Australia you can also consider system builders with ideas beyond the normal store-bought Asus motherboard etc etc. If you look at our specs on our perth pc repair site you will see a custom built PC with reliable and sturdy Gigabyte P55 mainboard, and if you add a Caviar Black SATA-3 on this board you can run at twice the speed of Caviar Green.
