so this is basically a neat little tool i found on teh interwebz.

you can use a hidden folder called GodMode in windows Vista and windows 7 to directly access the Control Panel applications without having to flick through the categories.

all you do is this:
create a new folder on the desktop
for its name, copy+paste this code in the text input field:
Code:
GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}

hit enter and the icon will change to resemble the Control Panel, with it being called "GodMode"

this is neat, since i now no longer have to use the Run command to find direct apps in the control panel, and i have even discovered a few new tools in the process. give it a go Vista and 7 users

maybe- but for someone who likes to use these tools, but hates the Control Panel navigation(like me) it is a giant leap forward, since the bevvy of administrative windows apps are now properly categorized.

i even discovered the location of the windows stability report, something i had once seen, but not been able to locate.

This is a common problem with "godmode" in vist 64 bit google it you'll find it has happened to many.
Check this thread http://www.overclock.net/windows/640428-anybody-heard-windows-7-god-mode.html

They have a fix using command prompt which works for some but did not for me as i could not find the offending folder.

Also found another fix via google saying people had succes using unbuto desktop x64 boot from disc and then able to delete folder.

Good luck i had to reinstall just don't format drive so old install gets kept and you can tranfer important files over to the new OS..

I have been doing a little more research on the issue, and it seems the command prompt solution is by far the closest one to success, since it shows the list of files(hidden and revealed)when you type the command:
DIR C:\users\***(enter username here)\desktop\

but so far, my attempts to remove the GodMode folder via the rmdir command have resulted in a directory not found error.

When i have found a fix that works, i will publish it along with a whole bunch of other keystrings Microsoft released recently.
I have added a description of what each keystring does

I'm running Win7 x32, and can verify that using the cmd will delete the folder:
start cmd
type (no quotes, replace <username> with your user name) "cd c:\users\<username>\desktop"
type rmdir "GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}"

If you copy "GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}" you can paste it by right-clicking, paste.

This should work under Vista x64.

If it doesn't, your best bet is to use a bootable cd, such as UBCD4Win, and go to c:\users\<username>\desktop and delete the folder.
