Is anyone aware when or if any of the telecom's companies will offer SMS for the iPad? I am aware that email is easy on the iPad, but that is not my issue of curiosity.

Currently there is no telecommunications company that allow you to send SMS messages from an iPad. However there are a few Apps in development that should allow you to send an SMS from an iPad. The Devteam's MuscleNerd hacked the iPad and successfully sent a SMS from the iPad to an iPhone.
So far we know that the iPad 3G is only meant for browsing with mobile networks and we never expected to make calls or send SMSes from it. But Devteam’s MuscleNerd proved us wrong (though the SMS had no GUI so it was quite primitive). They uploaded a video on YouTube where he sent a SMS from the iPad 3G to iPhone. Though they did this with terminal from iPad (Terminal is a client application in which you can connect with multiple server with SSH protocol.), no GUI has been built so far. All we need is a GUI SMS app for iPad 3G and we would like see it on the Cyndia Store and who knows we might well be making calls from the iPad soon.

I have no idea why you call it the iTampon, not only are they completely non absorbent but after dipping it in a bucket of water to try it out it refused to start again. I had to go down to the Dubai Mall and buy another one. Thanks a lot ss-Rotel.
