King Computer

Hi i'm Blake i am the age of 12 I need a laptop for my work at school and stuff like that but all I got is my computer, That's not portable. Lol.

I like my computer because the whole system is black, black is the color best looking color on a computer but with a computer of 1.60Ghz processor I don't think it really matters what color it is. My computer was not the best for its time quite the normal type unless you are a million air who always buys the latest and bestest computers out. My 80GB hardrive is only full of games, with six USB ports guess how many gaming controllers I can have in my computer while playing (Well only 6). With a 19inch monitor well that already brings out the whole gaming experience. My network is not the best but I can still go to any site any time.

The Computer
My Computer's name is king computer but it's real name is b-88005963cc6c4. It is a ASUS that has a:
- 1.60GHz processor
- 144MB of RAM
- 80GB hardrive
- Windows XP
- Network/internet 54Mbps
- AMD sempron processor 2800+
- 3D Graphics card (DirectX 9 Able)
- Six USB 2.0 ports (2 front, 4 back)

Others
My computer is not full of the latest in tech, but the best of it.
- Multi media keyboard - a NewMen mouse
- Camac G-9 speaker system
- LCD 19inch monitor
- DVD-CD burner
- And most important of all, it is shiny!

Thanks for reading.

It's not how big it is, it's what you do with it that counts kids!

I don't think comparing Mhz is going to get you very far. Usually a more functional computer is one that's more practical and productive rather than one with sheer brute force power. Mainly because power equals heat, which equals noise. But as long as you're happy with it, I suppose that's all that really matters.

It's funny how APC seems to attract a younger audience. I remember starting to read APC when I was quite young too. I think APC's got something going there.

My first computer was a Tandy TRS-80 which had 16Kb of RAM and could play really cool text games from a tape drive, though it took about 10 minutes to load.

Now I have a HP DV7 with Core2Duo 2.53GHz

and run my own computer company King Computer Solutions

I got my first computer in 2007. my grandparents gave it to me and said I could do homework on it...
it ran windows 3.11! the first time I turned it on I had to wait for 20 minutes for anything to happen, then it went to a blinking DOS prompt. I typed in random things for half an hour untill my dad (not the most technically-minded person...) remembered about typing WIN to start windows...

that was a great computer... for about a week until it's 80MB HDD crashed :)

I have fortunately moved on. I have a rig running with a E7400 now.
it's... slightly faster... than my first computer:)

AMD Athlon XP 2,000Mhz (15x133) 2400+
Windows XP Service Pack 3 Home Edition ( It can't run Vista but I don't want to )
NVIDIA GeForce2 MX/MX400 ( 64Mb ) Video Card
MSI KM3m-V Motherboard with a VIA Unichrome KM266 Pro Chipset
Western Digital WD800JB 80Gb Hard Drive
Western Digital WD3200AAJ 320Gb USB External Hard Drive

So you see :( Although I don't have modern up-to-date flash stuff like yourself,I'm still in there
battling away. For my next trick though I plan to get a Sonic Palit 768Mb Sound Card and
probably one of the newer NViDIA 9600 video card and finally drop Windows altogether

I agree with you there McBanjo. I happen to be 12 and reading the mag and the forums has made me notice the same thing. One of my friends also reads APC. BTW, just to fit in with the topic, my rig is as follows.

Intel Pentium 4 2.40Ghz
Intel Desktop Boards M/B (Don't ask what model, 2001ish)
3 GB DDR RAM (2x1GB, 2x512mb, these are from my mums works computers. I got to keep anything I wanted. Thats where I got this machine from)
Generic 240W PSU
Intergrated Graphics and Audio
2x 40 GB HDDs
Windows XP, Windows 7 RC1 and Ubuntu 9.04
LG DVD Burner

It's a TPG model from around 2001, and seems fairly generic. Thats just about all I've got in it. I've also almost blown it up a couple of times :(. One time it stopped working completely and smelt like smoke, but I rebuild it and fixed the problem :)

Ed: I also use a 15" TPG CRT monitor, some Logitech MP3 speakers and some random mouse and keyboard.

Yeah, funny that. I started to read APC three years ago when I was 12, and still subscribe up to now and i'm 15. I rebuilt my first PC when I was 11 (my dad gave me a bunch of old parts, like a 1.6Ghz P4 CPU, 2x128MB RAM and a GeForce 2 MX video card, screwed them together and it... worked). I still get kinda misty-eyed about it I guess!

My current rig (just to fit in with the topic, lol) I built two years ago, at 13, for about $1000.

AMD Athlon X2 4000+ 2.13Ghz
ABIT NF-M2S Motherboard
2x1GB Corsair ValueSelect DDR2 RAM
Thermaltake 430W PSU
NVIDIA GeForce 8500GT 512MB
Integrated Audio
Western Digital 250GB SATAII HDD
Western Digital 200GB PATA HDD (recycled from old PC)
Sony DVD Burner 16x
MEC Generic Case by PLE Computers
LG Flatron L1719S 17" LCD Monitor
Logitech X-230 Speakers
Windows Vista Ultimate

I think I started to read APC when I was about 11 1/2 (October '08). Since then, I've been my families IT guy, and to some extent, my mum's work's part-time helper (I wiped all their old HDDs when they disposed of their old computers). I find APC very interesting, and I have also ready two other computers mags. I didn't find them quite right, so I've stuck with APC.
