APC reader Darren Cvek sent the following question to the Ask APC section of the mag by email. Do you know the answer? If so, post it below and we may print your answer in the mag. (If you like, you can include a few sentences of info about yourself too and we'll include that in the mag.)

Q. I am running XP Pro on my laptop with Office 2000, I was using Outlook express for my emails and decided to try Mozilla Thunderbird for my e-mails. I have decided I wanted to go back to using Outlook Express and have lots of emails saved in folders using Save As that I want to open with Outlook Express. The problem I have encountered is that after removing Thunderbird I can not open the saved emails with Outlook express.

Introduce yourself to Google.

Try terms like "Export thunderbird to Outlook Express." Surely 1 out of 420,000 results should solve your problem.

Save the real issues for the Ask APC section.

LOL McBanjo...
BTW it was actually 3,260,000 results, not 420,000.

If this guy REALLY wants to know how to do so without the convienience of Google, here is a solution:

First, you need to turn on 'Show hidden files and folders' in Folder Options, then navigate to:
C:\Documents and Settings\[User Name]\Application Data\Thunderbird\Profiles\xxxxxxxx.default\, (where xxxxxxxx is a random string of 8 characters). Go into the 'Mail' folder and select your ISP address (e.g. "pop.gmail.com" or "mail.iinet.net.au". If you would also like to keep your Unsent/Deleted messages or any custom mail folders, also locate the 'Local Folders' folder. Then, download IMAPsize (http://www.broobles.com/imapsize/index.php) and select Tools>mbox2eml. When navigating to your Thunderbird profile folder, if you only see .msf files, change 'Files of Type' to 'All Files (*.*)'. It will ask you to select a location for your exported Thunderbird files to be stored, just use a temporary folder on your desktop. Click 'Convert' and IMAPsize will begin to work its magic. Now, open Outlook Express, and open the folder in which you want to import messages. All you need to do now is drag-and-drop the converted messages from Thunderbird into their respective folder in Outlook Express.
