Can anyone explain why the LinuxMint 5.0 folder on the August 2008 DVD is only 1.4 Mb and won't get past the grub boot? I assumed that this was a live CD iso and should be MUCH larger.

I have the same problem which is a shame because I was looking forward to giving it a try. I find Ubuntu a bit hard on the eyes especially at night .

oh good, i'm not the only person who finds the orignal ubuntu theme a little glary. open synaptic [system - admin - synaptic package manager] and search for "theme" i found a bunch of gtk themes and icon themes in there. its easier than downloading and installing them individually form the net. ubuntume (muslim edition) is quite pretty but i don't like the arabic writing under the mouse because i can't read it. you just right click the desktop and choose "change desktop background" then go to the themes tab.

Hi,
Same problem the iso is only 1.4Mb in size so i guess that there has been a problem in the DVD production. Lets hope that APC comes good and fixes it by giving us a link where we can email our detail to get a new copy of the DVD that includes the Mint files.

just purchased apc from the newsagent with the intention of updating to linux mint 5.0
the iso is corrupt! (it is 1.37meg)
what is apcs policy on such issues? do they replace it? I'm very angry, i cant download it (600meg is too big!)

!!!!!!!!DO NOT INSTALL Zenwork 5.2 from the DVD!!!!!!!
it is also corrupt.
this time its more elusive it installs about half-way through and then it pops up with errors saying something along the line of "file missing"
after closer inspection, the zenwork iso from the DVD is only 295MB
it should be close to approx 500MB
apc must be cutting the budget in its DVD department.
now i'm VERY VERY angry.

my friend told me he couldn't install zenwalk to but i told him he probably didn't burn the iso right. i better apologize to him. in the meantime, i don't want to waste 6-700 Mb of my d/l limit, more when the torrent uploads are taken into account for.

Hi all,
It has been drawn to our attention that a production error on the APC August 2008 DVD resulted in the inclusion of incomplete versions of Linux Mint 5 and Zenwalk 5.2.
We regret this error and apologise for any inconvenience it has caused.
APC will put working versions of these two distributions on the next available DVD (which, due to production factors, will be the November issue).
Sorry guys - and thanks for the heads-up.
Kind regards,
Peter DVD Editor
