I find photoshop very time consuming to use for doing some simple jobs unless you are very good at it. Do any of you agree with me?

No! What type of Simple Jobs are you talking about??
I'm not an expert on photoshop. But I have followed a few online tutorials in the past when experiementing with signature making. I must say that some of the functions I learned in those tutorials help me in everyday use of Photoshop.
But really, if there is something you want to do, say resize or change the colour of an image, and you don't already know how, all you need is an internet connection and google! Do a search on what you want, and you'll get loads of tutorials. Follow one through, and learn how to do it.
It may seem daunting at first, because there's so many options. But you'll find, after learning some basics, it'll pay off and make simple jobs more simple. I need Photoshop, for it's flexibility with its simplicity! I find Paintshop so much more difficault :)

Yes - it is time consuming. Not so much that it's difficult to use, but moreso it's slow to start and it's rather clumsy for a simple resize/recompress. Or even to preview photos, do a simple crop, levels adjustment.
That's why I use ACDSeePro2 myself. This is like a photo-management software with inbuilt editing capabilities which allows you to do some batch renaming, file conversion, cropping, resizing, recompressing, making wallpapers, contrast and brightness changing, levels, curves, red eye reduction, de-noising etc.
I highly recommend using something like this instead of photoshop for a quick job. I really only use photoshop to recompose photos and do some "trickery"! :)

Hi,
I agree with you that it is a time consuming software, but we can't forget that it is a very demanding and useful software. I just want to say that if you found another option or any solution please let me know.

Photoshop definitely takes some time to learn to use efficiently. The best source I have found for learning it's use as well as tip and tricks which would otherwise be very obscure is a show called Pixel Perfect (by a guy called Burt Monroy). It's very interesting and informative. It's free to view and he puts all the episodes on Torrents. Check out the website for more info: Pixel Perfect

That's all true. When I first started using Photoshop (the original CS on Windows ME, I fondly remember [not the Windows ME part, Yuk]) I was overwhelmed by the sheer amount of options. Three years on, using the CS4 version on Mac which my school kindly installs on all laptops, I would use it for nearly everything image related, it's second nature now, just like Word or PowerPoint. Everything from working with layers, to mastering its selection tools, is infinitely useful and I can't see myself going back to anything else, like Google Picasa, Ps Elements or ... er... Windows Paint.

i personally find photoshop CS3 very easy and fast to do that small stuff such as image resizing, but i have noticed CS3 does not have the same file compression flexibility as GIMP

Viewing photos? I always get annoyed when Photoshop opens for this instead of the Windows Image viewing software, whatever it's called.
I find PhotoShop takes an age to load, and to create bitmap graphics files, but once I'm in, it generally works fast.
