Hi folks,
I have just built a new PC using the following components;
CPU - Intel E8500 3.16Ghz Core 2 Duo Mainboard - Gigabyte EP45-DS3L Video Card - Gigabyte PCI-E 896MB GTX260 Ram - 4GB OCZ Platinum DDR2 800 PSU - Extreme Coolmaster 600Watt HDD - Maxtor SATA
I have tried several times to install Windows XP Pro but cant due to the dreaded blue screen, and have had the BIOS setup lockup on me as well.
I can only get as far as installing basic drivers prior to windows installation starting up when I get the blue screen, this is what I get;
**STOP 0x0000007E (0x0000005, 0xF748E0BF, 0xF78D208, 0xF78D9F08)
**PCI.SYS - address F748E0BF base at F7487000, datestamp 3b7d855c
I have configured the BIOS appropriately, removed some elements to help diagnose the problem without success, I get one short peep POST, CPU temp ok, all cables are where they should be, I have build some 20 PC's and never had this issue generally its a simple setup.
I would appreciate any help from someone who knows what the above tech data means or has experienced something similar.. or if I have done something stupid. Cheers!

I've done a little research, and it appears that XP RTM and SP1 has issues with PCIE Cards, try either SP2 or SP3 slipstreamed into your install and give that a go.

Phred has a good point. The fact that it is a PCI bus issue is pretty self explainitry. Old RTM and SP1 discs should have been replaced along time ago as they are very out-dated. The other thing to note is looking at your hardware, you should be going to a 64bit OS and that being Vista Ultimate or HP x64. The hardware is more than enough to run it and you wont be wasting RAM is crappy old XP 32bit will show around 3GB RAM and leave the other 1GB or so wasted and un-indexed.
