Yes, these people are real visitors to the Melbourne International Digital Entertainment Festival (iDEF2009) -- they are "costume gamers".
The F1 car is real and Panasonic is proud to show it off although no-one could tell us how this stand was related to digital entertainment
This is more like it! A four player F1 racing simulator game in a trailer which allows you to race your friends. Apparently the trailer is available for hire for parties and functions
Microsoft certainly wanted everyone to know about the XBox. This trailer contains 6 XBox consoles which you can play as well as room for staff and a breakout area. As you can see, this thing is HUGE.
A lot of behind the scenes computing power goes into a show such as this. We counted several PCs, 3 graphics displays and Mac and numerous audio/video feeds to make the presenters look good
This enormous speaker system (which is taller than a person) is designed for home use (if you have a 35 square metre room). The vendors claim that this contraption produces audiophile sound but we were too afraid to have them turn it on for us
If you have a smaller room, this 5.1 sound system may be more to your liking although it too looks intimidating
This is more suitable for smaller rooms if you are into funky speakers. The amplifiers are hybrid valve/solid state
Inside the Microsoft XBox trailer makes you feel like a rock star
The ultimate party game - a computerised dance contest for 4 people. Considerably more high tech than dancing to a CD or MP3 player
Is that Windows XP we see. Microsoft will have a lot of work to do to convince gamers to move to Windows 7
You are never to young for gaming. These consoles are specifically designed for toddlers
The dazed gamer look was very prevalent
Cos gamers (costume gamers) believe that dressing up in costume enhances the gaming experience. These people were visitors not hired to promote products. Or JB Hi-Fi for that matter.
In this Ubisoft snowboarding game you move the Wii panel as well as your body to control the action
This motion simulator makes you feel as if you are really driving the car - every bone jerking curve
