eBay is the place to find Intel Processors ahead of launch

We have talked a bit about the Intel Core i9 processors expected to debut early next year. Odds are these CPUs will be part of the hubbub that Intel promotes at CES in January. If you are lusting after one of these 6-core beasts for your own computer and just can't wait for them to hit the market, eBay has or at least had your fix.

The eBay auction for the Core i9 CPU is now complete and some geek payed $1,294.41 ($US1,200) for the Gulftown part. Along with the pics of the CPU is a shot seemingly taken from CPU-Z that shows the six-cores. Presumably, the chip was in working condition. You can frequently find engineering sample parts on eBay.

These parts are given out to journalists for review, used for testing internally at Intel, and are often given to hardware manufacturers for things like hardware compatibility testing. One thing is for sure, if Intel can find out who leaked the processor onto eBay the flow of new pre-launch processors will dry up faster than David Hasselhoff after a tummy full of charcoal during his latest hospital admission.

Given anything can be digitally created/modified and that the item is being sold on eBay (so no one can verify anything about the product/seeler) who's to say there is any fact to this being the real deal? Good luck to the buyer...

Though it sounds pretty good, I would'nt pay $1,294.41 for the Core i9.
Previouse to this article I did'nt even know there was going to be or was a Core i9.
