iPhone websites are sprouting everywhere, and even Louis Vuitton is getting in on the hype.
Leaflets home screen |
With the recent launch of the iPhone, lots of new websites are springing up tailored specifically to iPhone owners.
Even though the iPhone platform remains locked to third party applications, developers are putting in great effort to deploy functional site using web 2.0 technologies that can be run on Safari for iPhone.
iPhone portals
A good example is the new iPhone portal/application that popped up recently called Leaflets. The Leaflets site contains small widget-like applications that are tailored to the iPhone screen and navigation gestures.
At the moment there are nine leaflets with more planned.
Other sites like iPhone application list and Rev2 are also trying to capatilise on the iPhone hype by providing a portal for developers to submit their iPhone sites to.
The after-market already hot
Another group trying to take advantage of iPhone hysteria are accessory makers like Belkin and Marware - you can't blame them either considering the market for iPod related accessories is now counted in billions of dollars.
Accessories available range from cases to screen protectors. Louis Vuitton is even getting on board with a range of designer pouches - ranging in price from $225 for the Monogram canvas to $1,120 for the alligator case. Perhaps we're not adequately plugged in to the fashion market, but paying more for the case than for the phone it's enclosing seems a bit crazy. Still, Paris has to have something to buy.
Celebrities love iPhone!
Speaking of celebrities, if you've been out celebrity spotting in the US (or for the rest of us, combing the people magazines while waiting for a haircut) you'll notice that the Blackberry Pearl is 'so last year' and just got overtaken by the iPhone as the new 'must' have accessory this season. You can take these shots as evidence . I wonder who the first Aussie celeb to get their hands on one will be?
