Kye Nelson, a sixteen year old gaming enthusiast from Western Australia and amcurrently purchasing the following as we speak for a fast-family/gamingcomputer. He says: "The processor, motherboard and RAM are the main achievers here with more than enough oopmh to allow an awesome overclock and get the most out of the mid-range graphics card."
Check out Kye's MySpace page.

CORE SYSTEM

CPU: Intel 1366 pin Core i7-920 2.66Ghz - $389
The core i7-920 doesn't cost a heap and is extremely fast and able to be overclocked to achieve some relatively decent speeds.

MOTHERBOARD: ASUS X85 P6T - $279
Why you chose this motherboard    The P6T supports intels new X58  core i7 chip aswell as NVIDIA's SLI capabilities and is able to be overclocked. Isn't overly priced at is a suitable board right in amongst its competition. Also boasts a range of features for its price and its tri-linear processing makes it an awesome affordable board.

GRAPHICS: Nvidia's ASUS GTS 250 1GB - $164
Why you chose this graphics card    Needed something that would be able to deliver decent framerates without costing a tonne. This card also supports Nvidia's SLI so another card can be purchased later as an upgrade, meanwhile this card would give any decent game a run for its money.

RAM: Patriot Gaming PGS36G1600ELK 6GB Kit DDR3 1600 - $189
Why you chose this RAM    The i7 chip runs tri-linnear processing so ultimately three memory channels was going to be the best. 6GB of RAM may be considered a bit over kill for some games but it allows the quad core processor to do what it does best running multiple applications.

HARD DRIVE 1: Seagate SATA 500GB HDD - $64
price    64
Why you chose this HDD    Am always able to upgrade or run a number of drives later with the Antec 200 case and 500GB is more than enough space to amply install OS and all of my games. I have an external hard drive already which provides me with than more than enough room.

OPTICAL DRIVE: LG SATA Black 22x DVD RW - $43
Why you chose this optical drive    All i need at an affordable price.

PSU: Thermaltake QFan 650Watt - $179
Why you chose this PSU    Not the cheapest on the market but it runs quite so it doesn't sound like a figher jet. 650 Watt will provide enough oomph if the option to overclock is chosen.

CASE: Antec 200 - $63
Why you chose this case    Its beautiful, and affordable, and roomy.

MONITOR    Acer 23" X233HB 5ms HD DVI - $209
Why you chose this monitor    Ample viewing room for games plus a little more.

KEYBOARD: Logitech USB Media 600 - $29
Why you chose this keyboard/mouse    Looks the part and not overly expensive.

MOUSE: Gigabyte M6880-Laser - $17
Why you chose this mouse    Will do its job and isn't totally crappy. I choose cord mice as battery driven will always seem to freeze or run out of power in the last level of a game.

SOUND: Logitech X230 2.1 - $53
A bit of sound

OPERATING SYSTEM:  OEM 64 bit MS Win 7 Home Premium - $
Why you chose this OS    Its new and its not Vista.

Total cost with extras: $
