LIVE: Windows 7 launch

Dan Warne22 October 2009, 9:49 AM

APC is at the Microsoft Windows 7 launch this morning -- but you can be too, with a live video feed.

You can tweet your questions to Microsoft directly by sending tweets to @Windows7AU during the launch. Microsoft says every fourth question will be selected from the Twitter questions.

UPDATE: The launch is now over - hence why the live video feed is down.

As if I'd bother!!!! Windows. You're heading down that long and winding road as far as I'm concerned and I reckon when you get to the end all that's left is a speck of dust which will need de-fraggin.

I've been using Windows 7 since the RC. As soon as it was available via MSDN I installed the full version. No complaints. It works. It doesn't crash. The majority of application run flawlessly. All in all a great OS. Much better than Vista. Easier on hardware resources.

Just goes to show that you don't need to blind a person with a show to say how good the OS is.......

Stream says "off air"... Did they pack up and go home early because the 3 people that turned up were all media and already running Win7?

Yep... My laptop is currently in a sad Windows 7 only state waiting for the cuddly koala to come along and hug it.

Absolutely. Looking forward to the next release of Ubuntu. Not that it matters if it is delayed, because the current release is rock solid. It's really surreal looking at all the interest in Win7 launching...I must admit to having on a marginal interest. But I do use vista at work, and it does ruin my day every so often; It would be good to see someone do a real total cost of ownership calc and include OS faults and see how big a problem it really is. I wonder if people will look back at Vista and proclaim it as the Edsel of operating systems, or will Bob cop that....

Same. Beta 1 and RC1 have both served their sentence on my desktop, and some guy called Steve sent me a special black box (well, cardboard sleeve) edition of the final version about 2 weeks ago.

I'm so psyched for this! Windows 7 is finally out and millions of computer geeks already know how great this OS really is because of the RC releases. I've been saying to my geeky friend stuff like "you'll be assimilated" all day today (bit weird I know but tons funny to see the expression on his face)! I've been trying the RC and I will definitely be buying it... *ahem* as soon as I have the money... My new computer will be MOST DEFINITELY having the 64 bit version running on it! XD

*Edit* I couldn't help but notice that Windows 7 didn't get a BSOD like when they release 95! Oh man, would that have been awkward! =S

I cannot help being cheeky . . . BSOD is built into all Windows releases as a "feature". It won't be long before you find it :-)

My Win7 has been BSODing constantly since last night... Couldn't help but wonder if it somehow knew.
Turned out to be flaky RAM, but I won't let that ruin the story.

Also it was a pre-release press demo for Win98 that had the big famous plug-and-BSOD.
