A gameboard with a difference.

When it comes to funky PC gaming peripherals, you can’t go past the Logitech G13. Sure, it’s been kicking about for a few years now, but it still has no equal. It’s solid, feature-packed and backed by one of the best names in the business.

Logitech G13

When gaming, most of your keyboard is a big waste of space so Logitech cut out the fluff and put only the features you need into the G13. It has 25 programmable keys that can handle any function as well as macros, plus five profiles for different games. It also has a mini joystick operated by your thumb that can be used directly for gaming or also assigned custom actions.

As is the Logitech way, it also has a small LCD game panel that can display game state or system info such as temperatures. For those who like to tinker, there are quite a few programs available to allow you to display all sorts of different information on the screen. It’s also backlit for ease of use at night. In use, the G13 is remarkably comfortable, thanks to the large palm rest. It’s also rather solid, so no matter how rough you get the G13 stays put on your desk.

The Logitech G13 still carries a fairly hefty price premium, so make sure you really compare prices online. Quite a few places are still trying to flog the G13 for the original launch price, but shop around as you can grab one new for less than $100. You can also often find almost unused models second hand.

Price: $110
Pros: Quality build, comfortable, sweet mini joystick.
Cons: Pricey, limited use, getting on in age.
Verdict: 8 out of 10 (Highly recommended)

I have a G13 and a N52te and in my opinion the Belkin N52te SpeedPad is a much better option, yes a little harder to find these day but well worth it.
