Windows 7 will just work: Microsoft

Microsoft has promised the compatibility nightmares when Vista came out won't be repeated with Windows 7.
Apparently Windows 7 lives in its own little ecosystem. We can almost see the fluffy bunnies and singing birds, but how is this ecosystem getting ready for a major OS launch?
With Windows 7 pre-orders taking
Europe by storm today (even without a browser built into it), selling the same number of pre-orders in hours that it took Vista 17 weeks to achieve. Members of the the Microsoft team are highlighting what is going on behind the scenes to make sure this launch goes somewhat smoother than its predecessor.
Mike Nash of the Windows Platform Strategy Team has updated the
Windows 7 blog with a look at the compatibility issues that Windows 7 has faced, for example;
"Some software that is written to very low levels of the operating system, like antivirus and disk imaging software, may require some updates. We have been able to engage closely with those partners and have addressed compatibility issues earlier in the process."
At least the troubles experienced at the Vista launch do seem to be a thing of the past. The update also has links for users and developers to check their software and systems. With other rumours suggesting that a release to manufacturing (RTM) version of the final code is already available for download on torrents, the stampede to release is well and truly on.
