Hanging out for the dot one release of Vista? The release candidate of Vista SP1 will be available for public download within days.

Earlier today, Microsoft announced the availability of the Release Candidate of Windows Vista Service Pack 1.

Initially, the release has only been made available to developers via Microsoft Connect, but will be available to MSDN and TechNet subscribers tomorrow and to the general public next week.

Microsoft has made a number of changes to Vista SP1 since the beta release, and they attribute many of these changes directly to feedback from SP1 beta testers:

  • The size of the standalone installer packages has decreased between 30% and 50%
  • The amount of disk space needed to install the service pack is reduced, and if there is still insufficient space the installer will inform the user of exactly how much is needed
  • All unnecessary files left behind in the beta are removed in the RC
  • Installation reliability has improved, based on bug reports and Windows Update logs supplied by beta testers
  • More detailed information on SP1 contained within this service pack

The service pack is still on track for release in the first quarter of 2008. The x86 and x64 packages for English, French, Spanish, German and Japanese installations will be released first, with packages for all other languages to be released eight to 12 weeks later.

Currently, standalone and Windows Update builds of SP1 are available, but administrators wishing to block SP1 RC in Windows Update can apply a blocker patch (more information here in a few days).

Slipstream builds will be made available within a few days so you can make your own Vista installation DVD with the service pack already integrated.

If you’ve got a Vista system with a pre-RC build of SP1 installed, you’ll need to uninstall it before playing with the Release Candidate. To do this go to Control Panel, Programs and Features, View Installed Updates. Then remove “Service Pack for Windows (KB936330)”.

LOL mac will always Suck.

I worked as a technical support manager for almost 2 years. Unfortunately half of our employes used Macs. The rest used PCs from Compaq and IBM running different versions of Windows.

We had atleast 20-30 issues a day with the Macs and about 2-5 with the PCs. The problem was also that the issues we had with the Macs were often illogical and took huge amounts of time to solve. Another aspect was that the Mac-users never learned from their mistakes and what we told them.

I know it's prejudice to say but it sure felt like the pc-users were more self-going and interested in managing their computers themselves. I quit that job and now I work as the head of technical management at one of the largest computer manufacturers in the world.

So, Micro$oft think they have got it covered the hackers loophole?
Well, am think it will not happen these people will not stop ridiculing the ugly monster, to be successful with that get rid of the WGA, Activation and all the insane crap that is inside the codebase of the OS.
Then sell it cheaper so people can buy it.
Coursed bastards of M$ I will not buy that bullshit of a product!
Lucky I can dual boot with Linux, I recommend you Fedora 8 either the 32 or 64 bit versions will do, and if you can get the DVD Iso and burn to the disc, you can now use a free OS; not need to spend $750 rotten dollars!
