MSI drops new 15.6-inch and 16-inch mainstream notebooks with Intel Core i3 or i5 power.

MSI has been building up its notebook catalog over the last few months. It unveiled the CR720 theater PC not long ago and the company has now unveiled some new notebooks in the 16 and 15.6-inch range in a new CR600/620 family. The new notebooks over different Intel Core i3 and Core i5 processors depending on the model.

The CR600 is the lone 16-inch model with the 15.6-inch models including the CR620-030, CR620-033, and CR620-031. All of the new models use Windows 7 Home Premium and support HD resolution graphics. The screen resolution for all models is 1366 x 768 and the three 15.6-inch models get 4GB of RAM.

Storage is to 320GB or 500GB HDDs and the 033 version adds a Blu-ray DVD combo drive to the mix. All of the notebooks also use the chicklet keyboard MSI favors. The CR600 gets NVIDIA 8200M graphics, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, and HDMI out. MSI is mum on the specific graphics and connectivity options of the 15.6-inch models, but I would bet HDMI out is featured on them. The notebooks start at $589 ($US529).

Again with the use of "drops" to mean announce rather than discontinue...
