COMPUTEX | An unnamed netbook that runs both Android and Windows with detachable screen and dual CPUs has been spotted.
A Taiwanese firm was showing off a new
netbook reference design at Computex that sports both Windows XP and Android operating systems. The company showing the machine off is a government-funded company called the Institute for Information Industry.

The netbook runs Android, but when the user clicks on a program than runs in x86 architecture Windows XP opens and pushes Android to the sides of the screen. The x86 functions of the machine are ran with a 1.6GHz Via C7 CPU. The rig has a 7.6-inch detachable touchscreen that contains the 533MHz Samsung ARM chip that runs Android.
If the detached tablet needs to access a Windows application the x86 processor under the keyboard can be accessed via Wi-Fi or mobile broadband. Wimax has reportedly been tested on the computer as well.
Pricing for the machine is unknown, but company reps claim that building the machine will only add $50 to the cost of current netbooks. It looks like
Acer will have company in the Android netbook market.
