About the Compaq Presario CQ56-103TU - (Price $549.00)
For $549 the Compaq Presario CQ56-103TU doesn't compete with far more more powerful basic notebooks that cost nearly the same.
For $549 the Compaq Presario CQ56-103TU is one step above netbooks in power but two to three steps above them in price. Basic notebooks with first generation Intel Core i3s can be found for less money without too much trouble.
The Compaq Presario CQ56-103TU is powered by an Intel Celeron T3500 (2.1GHz) processor that's faster than the Intel Atoms seen in similarly-priced netbooks. While onboard graphics and 2GB of RAM limit you to casual games, the Presario will be great for basic, undemanding tasks like word processing, surfing the internet and email.
The 320GB hard drive is a step up from the 250GB disks of netbooks and is enough for storing plenty of documents, emails and photos. At this price the 15.6in (1,366x768 resolution) screen is great value. Weighing 2.5kg and measuring 36.8mm thick, 246mm deep and 374mm wide the Compaq Presario CQ56-103TU is definitely bigger and heavier than a netbook.
This is an average, notebook, with not a great deal to recommend it but on show-stopper downsides either.
