For $437 at JB Hi Fi the Acer AO522-C5DKK is an unusually good netbook that offers solid value for money. What’s most exciting is the 1,280x720 resolution screen; netbooks generally only have 1,024x600 resolution. It doesn’t end there though; there’s also an AMD Fusion processor and a 250GB hard drive, so all up there’s plenty being offered for not a lot of money.

The AMD Fusion C-50 (1GHz) processor is on par with the better Intel Atom processors, so low-end productivity applications are comfortably in reach. Where it stands out is with the integrated AMD Radeon HD 6250 graphics; where netbooks normally struggle to play decent quality videos, the C5DKK can stream HD quality content to a larger screen via the HDMI port. Although 1GB of RAM is on the low-side, it’s still clear that there is real versatility on offer.

The crown jewel for the C5DKK is the 10.1in (1,280x720 resolution) screen; it may be small, but the visual quality is on par with 11.6in screen ultraportables. This is definitely portable, as it weighs 1.25kg and measures 259mm wide, 185mm deep and 25.7mm thick.
