The deal: Acer AOD255 - high-end netbook for low-end price - $427.00
For $427 the Acer AOD255-N55DQKK is a very powerful netbook. Key to the good value is the Intel Atom N550 (1.5GHz), a dual core processor that typically appears in netbooks around $600. It can very ably run Windows 7 Starter, and offers great performance for word processing or similar low intensity general computing. Onboard graphics and 1GB of RAM do limit you to casual games, but for everything else you’ve got a very capable overall package.
The 250GB hard drive is the largest you can fit into a netbook, and it will provide a lot of storage as long as you don’t stock up on heaps of movies and music. A 10.1in (1,024x600 resolution) screen is standard for all netbooks, but it allows it be small enough to weigh 1.25kg and measure 24mm thick, 185mm deep, and 258.5mm wide.
This netbook is unusually good value for money, as the Intel Atom N550 is significantly better than the Intel Atom N450 or N455 that are common at this price range. If portability is your number one concern but you still want computing power, the Acer AOD255-N55DQKK is the best value way to get it.
