For $797 the Acer AS5741-432G50Mn notebook is very good value for money, and it’s even better if you use your cashback to bring it down to $698. What makes it such good value is the Intel Core i5-430M (2.26GHz) processor, which is among the faster processors you’ll see in a notebook. It’ll handily play HD movies, edit photographs, and browse high content intensity websites. The Intel HD graphics also offer low-end gaming functionality, as it’s capable of playing games like The Sims 3 on low settings.
While the 2GB of RAM is perhaps a little low, but at this price it’s a minor compromise. Otherwise the 500GB hard drive and 15.6in (1366x768 resolution) screen are both good. It’s a bit heavier than average at 2.6kg, but that’s made up for with the smaller than average dimensions; it’s 381mm wide, 253mm deep, and 34mm thick. The price is definitely right for this one.
