The deal: Acer Aspire AS5750G - mid-range allrounder cheaper than mid-range basic notebook - $587.00
For only $587 ($508 after an Acer cashback) the 15.6in Acer Aspire AS5750G-2434G64Mnkk is a terrific bargain. This allrounder costs less than most mid-range basic notebooks, which makes it excellent value however you look at it. It's got a 2nd Gen Intel Core i5 processor, a generous 640GB of hard disk drive storage and a low-end NVIDIA GeForce GT 520M dedicated graphics card. Gamers might prefer something with more graphical punch, but for most programs needing graphics rendering the 520M will still be easily sufficient.
The AS5750G features a 2nd Gen Intel Core i5-2430M (2.4GHz), a mid-range processor that will have no problems with productivity applications and most intensive software. It can burst up to 3GHz using Turbo Boost 2.0 Technology if a particularly demanding program is running.
The AS5750G comes with a dedicated graphics card called the NVIDIA GeForce GT 520M. It’s a low-end one that is enough for modern games at low settings.
4GB of RAM is the minimum for reasonable system performance under its Windows 7 Home Premium operating system and is enough to run several programs at once quite smoothly.
The AS5750G features a 640GB hard disk drive, which is large enough for important files along with plenty of programs and documents.
The AS5750G sports a 15.6in (1,366x768 resolution) gloss screen. The gloss screen does make outdoor usage a bit of a struggle, but stay out of direct sunlight and it’s still fine.
The AS5750G has average portability, because it weighs 2.6kg and is 33.2mm thick. It'll be straightforward to carry around.
