The barrage of great specials on 3rd Gen Intel Core i7 equipped all-rounders continues, with the 15.6in Acer Aspire V3-571G-73614G75MAKK for only $897.30 being one of the most impressive. The 3rd Gen Intel Core i7-3610QM is impressive enough in a notebook for this price, but the dedicated graphics card is also a winner. It’s the new NVIDIA GeForce GT 640M, which is easily powerful enough for modern games like Battlefield 3 at high settings. The exterior is pretty “plastic fantastic”, but if you need plenty of computing power for a low price then the Aspire V3’s got a lot going for it.

Processor
The V3 features a 3rd Gen Intel Core i7-3610QM (2.3GHz), a new high-end processor that’s roughly 15% faster than equivalent 2nd Gen Intel Core i7s. In addition to being powerful it has better power management, allowing for longer usage between recharges.

Graphics
It comes with a powerful mid-range dedicated graphics card called the NVIDIA GeForce GT 640M. It can handle demanding modern games like Battlefield 3 smoothly at high settings.

RAM
4GB of RAM is enough to run several programs at once smoothly. This will be sufficient for moderately intensive image and video editing tasks as well.

Storage
A large 750GB hard disk drive provides plenty of room for a reasonably large collection of files including movies and music.

Screen
The V3 sports a 15.6in (1,366 x 768 resolution) gloss screen. The resolution is average for the screen size.

Portability
The V3 has average portability, because it weighs 2.6kg and is 33.2mm thick. It'll be straightforward to carry around.
