The Acer eMachine EM350 is a good value entry level netbook for just $338 – and a $39 cashback, lowering the price to $299, assuming you are successful in getting the cash from Acer. It has an Intel Atom N450, one of the faster Intel Atom processors. With onboard graphics and 1GB of RAM, you can rule out any games. That being said, the 10.1in (1024x600 resolution) screen still lets you comfortably surf the internet, write Word documents, and similar tasks. Windows XP may be an old operating system, but for this price it’s an acceptable compromise. So is the 160GB hard drive; bigger ones exist in netbooks, but not for this price.
This netbook weighs just 1.1kg, and it’s small as well. It’s only 258.3mm wide, 184.9mm deep, and 25.2mm thick – at least half a centimetre thinner than some netbooks around this price. For $338 you can’t go wrong with this one.
