For $1,499 the Alienware M11x is the notebook to buy if you need gaming on the go. While the Intel Core i5-520UM (1.06GHz) is only a low-voltage processor, it’s a compromise that needs to be made for the sake of portability. The NVIDIA GeForce GT 335M graphics card is genuinely good though, and can run graphically impressive modern games like StarCraft 2 on medium to high settings. Add 4GB of RAM and you have respectable overall performance.
A 500GB hard drive is large for such a small notebook, and even with lots of games you’re unlikely to run out of space for a while. The 11.6in (1,366x768 resolution) screen is visually crisp for the size, so you’ll get a good viewing experience. It weighs a mere 2kg, measuring 285.7mm wide, 233.3mm deep, and 32.7mm thick.
The Alienware M11x is for those that want a blend of portability and gaming in a very stylish overall package. It could do with a faster processor, but when it comes down to it the otherwise solid specs more than make up for the compromise.
