The deal: Apple MacBook 13in - bargain but older model - $999.00
The Apple MacBook 13in has always been a good value allrounder, and $999 is the cheapest price we’ve seen for it yet. That's a massive $200 discount on its Apple Store retail price of $1,199, an unheard of price drop on a MacBook. The caveat is that this model on sale at WOW Sight & Sound is the previous generation MacBook (MC207X/A), released late last year and superseded by a newer model this year.
While in the Apple line-up this is essentially the entry-level Mac, in the Windows world it would be considered a thin-and-light, and its specs tend to reflect the focus on portability and the need for good battery life. The 250GB hard drive is perilously small, so be aware that if you use iTunes a lot you’ll run out of space sooner rather than later. The 13.3in screen has a resolution of 1,280x800 resolution, which is fine for general use and watching HD movies. The MacBook weighs just 2.13kg, and measures 27.4mm thick, 231.7mm deep, and 330.3mm wide. It comes in a tough polycarbonate shell, which is one reason it's popular with schools, who need laptops that can withstand the kind of treatment schoolkids can dish out.
You’ll struggle to find a better price for the Apple MacBook 13in than $999. Overall the specs are good for this essentially thin and light notebook, as it has the flexibility and power of an allrounder notebook.
