For $1,889.10 the Apple MacBook Pro 15in (MD318LL/A) is one of the better bargains from Dick Smith’s current 10% off Apple notebook sale. A recent update saw the MacBook Pro gain a major boost to its specs, and the sleek aluminium exterior and unibody construction (milled from a solid block of metal) gives it a premium level of build quality that few notebooks can match. It’s easily able to run demanding programs, thanks largely to the 2nd Gen Intel Core i7 processor and fast mid-range dedicated graphics card.

Processor
The MacBook has a 2nd Gen Intel Core i7-2675QM (2.2GHz), a high-end processor that can run intensive software and productivity applications comfortably. It can burst up to 3.1GHz using Turbo Boost 2.0 Technology if a particularly demanding program is running.

Graphics
The dedicated graphics card is the AMD Radeon HD 6750M, one of the fastest mid-range AMD cards. It will run most modern games smoothly at high settings as well as handle other serious graphics rendering needs.

RAM
4GB of RAM is pretty standard in notebooks these days, enough to ensure good system performance and to run several programs at once smoothly. Image and video editing are tasks at which the MacBooks excel.

Storage
The hard drive is 500GB, which is about average in size. That's enough for plenty of applications and a good r collection of iTunes content.

Screen
It has a 15.4in (1,440x900 resolution) gloss screen. This is better than what's typical for an allrounder notebook and long regarded as one of the MacBook Pro's big strengths

Portability
The MacBook has average portability, because it weighs 2.54kg and is 24.9mm thick. It'll be straightforward to carry around.

Other Features
The MacBook has a Thunderbolt port, a new standard developed by Intel that allows for exceptionally high data transfer speeds, faster than the USB 3.0 found on most new Wintel notebooks these days.
